Alexa Chung To Launch Her Own Fashion Line
Love her or loathe her, there’s nobody more stylish than Alexa Chung.
So we’re excited to report that Chung recently announced she’d be launching her own fashion line, with plans to ‘get it off the ground in 2014’. She made the statement during an interview with fashionista.com while promoting the New York launch of her collaboration with the make-up line Eyeko.
While we imagine the line will consist of lots of Moonrise Kingdom-esque fashion – Peter Pan collars, t-bar shoes, tartan skirts, pinafores and the sort of twee style Chung is best known for, she insists there are no set themes yet.
"I need some time to think about it!" she said. This makes sense: Chung’s had a ghoulishly busy 2013.
“That's (2014) going to be the first opportunity where I haven't had a nine-to-five job… I've kind of been doing Eyeko, I wrote a book, I did Fuse every day, and various other design gigs and DJing. So this will be the first time to actually sort of sit down and think about it."
However, Chung did hint that there would be one 2013-friendly item that wouldn’t be making its way into her collection: Miley’s high cut leotards.
"It's like a will it/won't it situation, I'm on the edge of my seat every time I watch her spread her legs! I'm like 'Ooh! Ooh!' It's too much for my anxiety."
We can't wait! Check out the pictures below for our rundown of Alexa's best looks.
We loved this look so much, we've posted it before! We're enjoying Alexa's mix of glitz and knits here on a trip to New York.
Alexa's signature look: Peter Pan collar paired with a bold print, for a 60s look with a modern twist.
Alexa gets a lot of column inches devoted to her style because of her penchant for pretty, quirky dresses. But we think her suit stylings are seriously underrated: suit jacket with nothing underneath without looking like a Wonderbra model from the 90s? Alexa, we salute you.
...plus, when Alexa does do modern and minimal, she does it very well, as evidenced here. And yes, if we owned those heels, we'd probably wear them more than once, too.
This was what Alexa wore to her book launch for 'It', and we love this outfit's intriguing mix of demure and raunch. Lace? Tick. Bare shoulders? Tick. A-line skirt? Yep. Prissy-but-quirky-flats? You bet. She looks like a nun who stayed out all night and forgot to get changed properly in the morning before mass. In a good way!
Vintage Alexa at a Topshop party: before Alexa had fully realised her Wes Anderson-esque thing where she potters around in t-bar flats and twee dresses, she used to rock a slightly Kate Moss influenced look in lots of battered leather jackets and skinny jeans.
Sharp tailoring paired with bare legs that go on forever, even in flats.
This is what the fuss is all about. She does ladylike with a rockstar edge: sheer white blouse, pinafore dress and flats you'd probably nick if she left them by the door at a house party.
We love this look for its Parisian cool, showcasing basics done really, really well. Great shirt, great skirt, killer summer sandals.
Shouldn't work, but somehow, does. Who else can pull off double denim under a duffle coat?
