Monochrome's Fashion Moment in the Office
Yep, the mono trend has officially cast off its Sixties connotations for good, as designers are now playing with all manner of decorative devices to give black and white a fresh, modern makeover. In a complicated world, there’s something reassuring about clean, simple black-and-white, especially when it’s organised into logical stripes, grids, and figure-flattering vertical planes. The look is modern, cool, and assertive – but never in your face – and smacks of feminine professionalism done right.Few things look more together than a thoughtful pairing of black and white. A pristine blend of opposites. In the summer shows it appeared at Balmain, Givenchy and Fendi, and for autumn even more designers found they just needed the two colours to express their ideas.
