Psst! Guess What? White is Alright... Even in Autumn

We all know that wearing white in the summer makes sense - there's just something about the clean and crisp look set against those summer tans and sunny highlights. And after all, those of you living in sunnier climes (outside of London, no doubt) have known for centuries that white clothing seems to keep you a little bit cooler... But wearing white only during the summer? That seems like a big no-no on our watch. In the old days of strict fashion rules, when black was only for funerals and stripes were for sailors, wearing white into the autumnal months was a crime against fashion... But the official end of summer is already a downer — do we really need to make it worse by limiting our  outfits because of some old fuddy-duddy statement? I mean, even Coco Chanel wore white year-round... Let's not be so tethered by fashion rules, unlike the effortlessly chic European women we constantly look to inspiration for! Create your own rules, and you'll inspire others to do the same. However, there's some truth in claim that it can be hard to wear white in autumn - it can be tricky especially when everyone else is wearing dark colours. Thankfully, we've come up with our own favourite ways to incorporate bright, timeless white into your autumn wardrobe. So take these tips on board and get on the blanc bandwagon! A White Sweater [caption id="attachment_2562" align="aligncenter" width="580"]Image: A Closetful of Clothes Image: A Closetful of Clothes[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2564" align="aligncenter" width="550"]Image: Pretty-a-Porter Image: Pretty-a-Porter[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2565" align="aligncenter" width="526"]Image: Adenorah Image: Adenorah[/caption] When the temperatures dip on an autumnal night, or during those crisp early mornings, a chunky cableknit or merino sweater is the perfect thing to ward off the chill. Plus, as the weather gets colder, it'll work great as a layering piece. ----- White Trainers [caption id="attachment_2566" align="aligncenter" width="597"]Image: Kate Waterhouse Image: Kate Waterhouse[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2568" align="aligncenter" width="478"]Image: La Cool Et Chic Image: La Cool Et Chic[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2567" align="aligncenter" width="570"]Image: Size Curvy Image: Size Curvy[/caption] Clean, functional, and bold: The truth is, we live in a world where white sneakers are a go-to year round. After all, nothing makes an outfit pop like this minimalist classic. ----- A Classic White Shirt [caption id="attachment_2577" align="aligncenter" width="641"]Image: Getty Images Image: Getty Images[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2181" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Image: Getty Images Image: Getty Images[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2578" align="aligncenter" width="641"]Image: Melodie Jeng Image: Melodie Jeng[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2123" align="aligncenter" width="683"]Image: IMAXTREE Image: IMAXTREE[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2207" align="aligncenter" width="623"]Image: Getty Images Image: Getty Images[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2214" align="aligncenter" width="564"]14067539_10154418960687402_2935609718989554711_n Image: Getty Images[/caption] [caption id="attachment_2579" align="aligncenter" width="683"]Image: Getty Images Image: Getty Images[/caption] No explanation required. The trick is  to pair them with more autumnal hues - like a rust or camel cashmere crewneck sweater or a long navy coat - instead of your traditional summer pastels. -----
