The Shirt Company's Guide to Getting Ready in 10 Minutes (or Less!)

It’s no secret that most of us are guilty of taking our sweet, sweet time when hauling our bodies out of bed in the morning and getting ready for our 9am meeting in the office  (or – much more preferrably – our 11am champagne brunch with the girls!). If you’re anything like us, the snooze button is your closest companion (we need our beauty sleep, okay!?). From hair and makeup, to our outfit of the day, our morning routine could take hours...And often does. And as much as we love whiling away the mornings perfecting our "look," there isn’t always time — nor is it always exactly practical for a day at work. Well, when it comes to getting ready The Shirt Company knows our way around a dressing table. So, we've put together a morning guide to help get your routine down to 10-minute beauty basics. Voilà!

Invest in Makeup

Who has time to swipe on mascara for 5 minutes per eye every morning? (Admittedly, we used to.) But to increase efficiency, make sure you're choosing products that don’t require a lot of tools or time spent perfecting – learn how to use them well. An all-in-one moisturiser, foundation, and SPF factor cream is a perfect time-saving beauty device! This Nude Finish Tinted Moisturiser by Bobbi Brown (pictured above) provides just enough coverage to make skin look like its best nude, with nourishing moisturizers that hydrate the skin, while SPF 15 provides everyday protection.

Reach for the Red Lipstick

You'll look like you spent an hour doing your "makeup," when in reality you spent only thirty seconds applying it on the tube to the office! Bonus fact: Red lipstick goes with any skin tone if you choose the right base colour and match it to your skin, hair, and wardrobe. Here's a handy guide to help you get your red just right! Get Your Capsule Wardrobe Together

[caption id="attachment_2856" align="aligncenter" width="597"]Image: Sheerluxe Image: Sheerluxe[/caption] When you're working against the clock every morning, grabbing a top and bottom you already know you'll love can save you a lot of time getting ready. Throw on a few accessories and you're done – the genius of a capsule wardrobe! Capsule wardrobe is a term coined by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique called "Wardrobe" in the 1970s. According to Faux, a capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don't go out of fashion, such as shirts, trousers, and coats, which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces. This idea was popularised by American designer Donna Karan who, in 1985, released an influential capsule collection of seven interchangeable work-wear pieces. If you're stuck for ideas, stick to the following: Choose a colour scheme (we love monochrome), consider your body shape (invest in a good-fitting, well tailored shirt), consider your complexion, choose classic shapes and patterns, and select high-quality fabrics. Be a 3-Minute Head Turner

[caption id="attachment_2862" align="aligncenter" width="602"]Image: InStyle Image: InStyle[/caption] For Meghan Markle, the royalists’ most au courant style icon and the princess-to-be, her hair appeal isn't just in the fuss-free, time saving styles – it's also in its simplicity. She makes the messy bun her own, sporting a variety of different variations on the easy up-do during her public appearances. Copying Markle’s messy bun requires any old hair elastic, a spritz of hairspray, and three minutes of your time at best! But, if a bun isn't for you, then try minimising time spent on your hair in the mornings by simply brushing it through with some water to tame it, or reach for a good grease-cutting dry shampoo that can work for all colours and textures.

[caption id="attachment_2858" align="aligncenter" width="597"]Image: Adenorah Image: Adenorah[/caption] With ten minutes to get dressed on Saturday morning, we go straight to denim! We'd grab our denim jeans, a white shirt, and style the look with everything from flats to statement heels, depending on where you're headed! We're all about chic comfort and minimalism – and denim is so easy to wear and looks great all year round. To achieve this fantastically French weekend look – as pictured on the epitome of effortless French girl cool, Adenorah (above) – just tuck a classic white button-down into a pair of well-loved straight leg jeans for tailored appeal.

Eat Breakfast on the Go

[caption id="attachment_2863" align="aligncenter" width="604"]Image: Today Show Image: Today Show[/caption] We're not huge fans of eating on the run, but it’s important to be well nourished so you can start the day on the right foot. After all, we've heard it many times before that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Here's an idea: make your breakfast and store it in a mason jar – and can be prepared the night before and refrigerated, making it easy to transport to work. Try combining oats, granola, quinoa, nuts, seeds, fruits both fresh and dried, and high protein, low sugar yogurts. We love the idea of having a couple jars in the refrigerator to grab on the go or simply take out and eat whenever we're home and in the mood!
